Tourist Tax Registration
All visitors to Austria have to pay a tourist tax and register with the local tourist office. The necessary forms are in the cupboard in the living room near the door to the balcony. Each form has three copies (Yellow, White and Green) as well as a cardboard guest card.
One form (in triplicate) should be completed for each family or couple. If guests are unrelated then they need to use additional forms.
If Eva completes these forms with you she will arrange to drop them into the town hall. If you are completing the form yourself, please leave the yellow forms in the house and ideally drop in the white and green forms to the town hall.
The second and third copies (white & green – Statistisches Meldeblatt) are for the guest registration office (Gästemeldeamt). Please drop these into the box on the wall of the town hall (Rathaus) –Brucker Bundesstraße 2, 5700 Zell am See. Photos below might help. The town hall is on the main street through Zell am See, facing the Hotel Steinerwirt and Schlossplatz – the Spar shop is just down from it. There is a box on the wall called Meldeschein, Gästemeldeamt into which you should put both the white and green forms within 36 hours of your arrival.
Finally, the cardboard sheet called “Gästekarte” contains a pop-out guest card that you also fill in. You should then carry this with you to show that you have registered. It also entitles you to some discounts e.g. Ski rental (Skiverleih) listed on the cardboard sheet
