Instructions for Wood Burning Stove

It is important that the correct amount of wood is used, especially when lighting. You should use (approx. 8-10 finely chopped pieces) of kindling to get the fire started. The kindling is located in the cupboard on the living room balcony. The stove may only be lit with the hatch ajar initially and then closed.
Always open the hatch carefully and slowly to prevent blow back because of the changing pressure in the stove. Open a window near to the fireplace prior to lighting. Leave the window open for a few minutes until the fire has caught properly.
The grate and ash handle should be closed (handle on lefthand side). The air supply damper (slider in the middle) should be open. For the very early stages of lighting the door handle (on righthand side) should be in the lighting position which is essentially ajar. Once the kindling has caught then the door should be closed.
Once the kindling is ready logs can be added and once fire with the logs has been established then the air damper can be reduced to burn the wood more efficiently.
Please burn only wood in the stove.
